My Matariki Story

Long, long ago, there lived seven wolves and three pigs.
They lived next to a frolicsome creek and ancient trees. The pigs loved building huge houses and playing with their bouncy ball.
One sunny Sunday, the three pigs were building a house. Seven big bad wolves came along, and they huffed and they puffed and they blew the poor pigs' house down. After they ruined the house, all of them strolled off giggling at the same time. The god, Mitai, appeared and gave the wolves a warning, but the wolves ignored them.
The next day, the big bad wolves watched the three little pigs playing with their bouncy ball.
"Ha! Ha!" one of the wolves said in a mischievous voice. Disaster struck. Mitai approached wildly. He flashed a powerful light on the big bad wolves and sent them up to the sky. They are now known as Matariki. We see them early June, each year.
